Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students have come from many different parts of the world including Ecuador, Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras and the United States. They come with tenacity, creativity, and a wide variety of experiences and gifts. We work hard every day as scholars, artists, critical thinkers and friends. At our school, 96% of students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch and 92% of the students are students of color. The majority of my students are learning English as a second or third language.

These students have the capacity to achieve greatness.

My Project

By having access to a variety of engineering-focused activities, my students will develop their creativity and critical thinking skills. LEGOs will provide focus and purpose during our Morning Work time and science class. With these activities, we will continue to develop our scientific minds and build a stronger classroom community. It is an exciting prospect!

My students have so much passion for learning and for creating--we need more opportunities to expand our perspectives and our creativity.

Providing students with an opportunity to engineer models will engage their creativity and love for authentic learning. The hands-on aspect will support English language learners in my classroom and create spaces for cooperative work and interchange. Students will come to school excited and motivated to work on their next creation. Please consider giving to our project. Thank you.
