I teach a lot of very creative and thoughtful students, from Kindergarten to 5th grade, as a World Cultures teacher. We talk about many cultures and traditions around the world and we also have conversations about challenging topics. I know that my students learn by moving their hands and using their bodies. By having access to a variety of engineering-focused activities, my students will develop their creativity and critical thinking skills. For that reason, I am requesting a lot of LEGOs--for big hands and small ones. With these activities, we will continue to develop our engineering minds and our empathetic minds, and at the same time build a stronger classroom community. It is an exciting prospect!
My students have so much passion for learning and for creating--we need more opportunities to expand our perspectives and our creativity.
