Legos for Collaboration and Strengthening Our Fingers!

My students need a set of Legos, Lego plates and storage to strengthen their fingers and increase collaboration.

My Students

Students in my classroom are military dependents and local residents of a large town in Hawaii. Our school is a Title I school which means we have a high percentage of students from low-income families. Furthermore, our school has a transient population due to the students with parents in the military.

My students are fun-loving preschool aged, special education students.

Students have different disabilities such as autism, speech delays, and developmental delays but they are eager, bright, and love to learn about everything! I hope to make their first experiences in school fun and engaging!

My Project

Students naturally love Legos! Legos are a highly motivating item in the classroom. My students love to work together to play in the blocks center and use large manipulatives to build. I want to introduced them to smaller building materials.

The Legos I am requesting for them are the perfect size for their little fingers to work on collaboration and finger strengthening!

With the Duplo Legos, my students will continue to collaborate on building products and they will also increase their finger strength during the process.

I also can see the Legos being used as a reinforcer in the classroom to reward or motivate students.
