This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students come from a rough part of San Diego but have great hearts and minds! Because of their life circumstances, the majority them don't realize their amazing untapped potential, and I love to come to work every day to show them how amazing they really are!

I like to think of my students like M&Ms: hard on the outside but sweet on the inside.

I have seen such amazing growth with my students so far this year and would love to help them mature and evolve even more to become independent thinkers who will strive to make a positive difference in their communities and the world!

My Project

Coding is one of the most essential skills in the 21st century, and Legos is one of the best toys ever created, so why not use both to to help students?! I recently started a coding club at my school where we are coding and flying drones, and I would love to be able to add a Lego option to the club!

Watching students struggle through coding and then succeeding with their programming is one of the most satisfying experiences to watch!

Legos would add a great engineering component to my coding club and help build skills in critical thinking, creativity, and confidence for my under-served students. Thanks for all of your help!
