Help me give my students some amazing hands-on learning opportunities by supplying us with Lego building sets. Students enjoy creating various habitat dioramas- many added their own Lego figurines to their final projects. They enjoy Legos!
I am a teacher in an elementary school where a majority of our kids receive free and reduced lunch services. Many of my students live in low-income housing projects near the school; others live in high-density housing in our local neighborhoods. I have found it difficult ot reach many of these students online. I have followed school district protocol and offered supplemental lessons online, but I fear most of my students (12 of 23) do not contact me regularly online.
I am working to provide hands-on learning activities for my students who are not connected to the internet, or to some school/community network.
This grant will help me provide hands-on materials to send to students while they work at home
My Project
Most of my students have few science materials at home to work with. Their basic supplies are still in quarantine at school; and most have limited access to learning materials at home. I have mailed learning packets to students (from books donated by our local bookstore), but I cannot do this for all 23 students.
Students are working at home with limited supervision, and they need materials to help them keep engaged.
Our time online is often limited because many students in one house are sharing one computer, or other students have no computer access at all.
I am planning to deliver Lego sets to students to help them continue to engage in STEM activities. This grant will help them feel engaged and excited about science, during these especially stressful times.
