This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
As a NYC teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district in the South Bronx, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. My students are on the autism spectrum and are enrolled in a specialized school. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to keep things predictable and provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences.
My students have not had much to look forward to during the COVID-19 pandemic and I want to provide them with new LEGOs when they return to our class.
My students enjoy spending time creating buildings, people, animals and even Beyblades with our classroom Legos.
My students are from low-income families and it would be difficult for them to contribute to these items for our classroom. We would appreciate you help.
My Project
LEGOs can benefit students in many ways. My students with Autism my students will benefit from teamwork and communication while working in small groups. Patience and organizational skills when they are successful and unsuccessful in the attempts to create. Use constructive problem solving skills to plan next steps. Most importantly LEGOs will provide adventure and experimentation for them.
My students love to spend time planning, problem solving and talking with one another about their LEGO creations!
This project will give them exciting news to look forward to after the COVID-19 pandemic! Thank you!
