Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My K-3 students love Legos! Through building with LEGO bricks, children engage in open-ended play that allows them to explore and experiment with various designs and structures. This process encourages them to think critically and solve problems, as they must consider how different pieces fit together to achieve their desired outcome. This hands-on experience also helps children develop spatial awareness and fine motor skills, as they manipulate the bricks to build and construct.

Moreover, playing with LEGOs promotes social skills and collaboration among children.

When they work together to build something, they learn to communicate effectively, share ideas, and cooperate to achieve a common goal. This collaborative play helps children develop important social and emotional skills, such as empathy, teamwork, and conflict resolution. Additionally, LEGO play can boost self-esteem and confidence as children take pride in their creations and feel a sense of accomplishment.

Furthermore, LEGOs can be used as a tool for learning across various subjects, including math, science, and literacy. We use LEGO sets to teach concepts such as symmetry, patterns, and storytelling. By incorporating LEGO into educational activities, children can enhance their understanding of these subjects in a fun and engaging way.
