My Students

My wonderful 6th and 7th grade students are eager to learn. The Technology and Career Studies class are willing to put in the work, and they are not afraid take risks with any new project.

These bright middle school kids love using all types of technology.

Our students come from every zip code in the city, therefore our students are unique and diverse student in regards to ethnicity, socioeconomic status, and ability level. I want to give them meaningful experiences that reflect 21st century skills.

My Project

Step away from the screen and use hands on STEM tools in the classroom! Students can build several different types of robots with this kit, and use the software to make the robot come alive! When using the software that comes with the kits, students drag and drop the programming blocks onto the programming canvas, press 'Play' and see how their robot reacts. Each programming block will make the robot respond in a specific way, and by combining them you can make the robot walk, talk, shoot, grab or do whatever they can imagine! I want to teach my students how to program using Lego Mindstorm kits because it is developmentally appropriate, improves socialization, increases engagement and improves the level of rigor.

Kids learn best through play, and my students will love to work with these robots!

This kit will move students away from the lonely interface of a computer screen and into active collaboration with each other. Robotics encourages students to touch, build, and measure. This will challenge them use higher order thinking skills like evaluation, application, analysis, and synthesis. All of these jobs skills will be required in the 21st century.
