My Project

As a special education teacher, I am always looking for engaging, hands-on ways to help my students grasp foundational math concepts. Many of my students struggle with abstract thinking, which makes traditional instruction on fractions, multiplication, division, and measurement especially challenging. That’s why I’m requesting a set of LEGO along with both teacher and student instructional editions specifically designed to teach math through hands-on exploration. These tools will bring learning to life and allow my students to physically build and manipulate numbers in ways that make sense to them.

LEGO are an ideal tool for teaching math to students with diverse learning needs because they provide a tangible, visual representation of numerical concepts.

Whether it's dividing bricks into equal groups to understand division, stacking them to explore fractions, or using their uniform size to measure, LEGO offer endless possibilities for multi-sensory learning. With guided curriculum support in the teacher and student editions, I will be able to deliver structured lessons that align with standards while also meeting the individualized needs of my students.

This project will not only increase engagement but also foster a deeper understanding of math through concrete learning experiences. My students will gain confidence as they see that they can do math—it just needs to be presented in a way that matches how they learn. Your support will provide lasting resources that can be used year after year to help students unlock their potential through the power of play and purposeful learning.
