Help me give my students the opportunity to be creative and have new LEGO educational sets for their math, science and other subjects.
This project expired on January 28, 2019.
Hooray! This project is fully funded
My students enjoy coming to the library to do many activities. As their librarian media specialist, I listen to their requests and we have made the library a fun place to be. With my background in science, I promote several competitions for all students and parents in my school during the year.
We organized a series of events all year around where students, teachers, and guests perform or compete.
These events attracts big audiences.
The teachers from math, science and other subjects including all STEM programs, team up with me to support and organize all these student-led projects.
My school is a Title 1 urban school with 100% free lunch. We have created a nice community inside the library. Many of the students come during their lunch or ask their teachers to bring the class to the library.
In the last four years, the circulation of the library has increased more than 500%. The library offers all kind of opportunities for students to develop and improve their learning skills.
The idea for this project was brought by our students.
They visited the public library and participated in a math competition using LEGO bricks.
They came back and asked their math and science teachers if they could reproduce it in our school.
We are in the beginning phase of adding LEGO bricks to our school library. All the resources we have in the library besides to be used in the library go to the classrooms to be used as educational tools.
We are sure that bringing legos to our school will impact in the way students learn the different lessons and applications in math and science.
