I teach in at a Title 1 school with a high poverty rate. Many of our children receive free and reduced lunches. We have law enforcement and military families we service as well. We offer gifted and talented as well as inclusion classrooms.
My students need a growth mindset that they are capable of achieving anything as long as they believe in themselves.
They will not stop until they are proud! I want to teach my students that all great accomplishments were once considered impossible!
My Project
Lego Education building bricks, building plates, and a STEAM table will allow my first grade students to work independently or in collaboration with peers using creativity and hands-on exploration to develop ideas that can be applied to math, science, and engineering standards in our curriculum. Students will then apply their experiences into a written journal reflection and have the opportunity to have small group presentations to explain their constructed pieces with the use of a designated STEAM table. Students naturally have a sense of curiosity when given Legos. Lego Education will allow them to apply real world knowledge and creativity together in a positive learning environment to show growth in math, science, written expression and engineering.
