This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

We have 40 students enrolled in our after-school LEGO club. As they play with LEGO bricks, they learn how to problem-solve, use creativity, work together with others, share supplies, and build a vision.

For our LEGO Club to be intellectually stimulating, we need special pieces, beyond the basics.

Every LEGO Club session starts with a challenge - cars, houses, future jobs, 2-color-challenge, etc. But since we only have the most basic of bricks, we're kind of limited as to what we can do. I'm requesting wheels, axles, doors, windows, roofs, minifigs, and nature items so that my students can have wider opportunities to create more intricate, advanced projects. Our club is a yearlong endeavor, so having a variety of pieces will keep their interest longer.

Lastly, the snacks are because the students have a long day, 7:30am-4pm. The club is for the younger grades (K-2) and they need an afternoon snack both for their physical health and mental health.
