Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach seventh and eighth grade social studies on the southwest side of Chicago. The school I work for has a large population of Latino students whose first language is Spanish.

The majority of students are from low-income families eagerly wanting an opportunity to release stress and mingle with others socially.

Every student is special and talented in their own way. You have the comedians, Einsteins, the needy, etc. They need motivation daily and help to get them back to an in school routine away from electronics, cell phones and television. They are all special to me.

Please support my eighth-grade students in getting some items to motivate them.

My Project

The Legos will be a great help in many ways in the class especially during free time. Legos will help students learning by strengthening their motor skills. Students will get into groups and take turns building each city.

As they work in groups they will communicate and work as a team.

In addition, students work on precision and coordination as they put Legos together and at the same time, they are working with spatial reasoning.

Students will identify each city and tell a story about the structure they are creating. At the end they will get that feeling of being a great architect and engineer.
