This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I am in the process of teaching my students how to be excellent researchers, particularly in writing research papers. Therefore, I have taken on the role of copy editor for the research, literature review, most importantly correct citing. As many teachers do, I grade work on the weekend., but my students work is online. Even though I stay late to edit and grade their papers, I do need a laptop in order to grade from home or outside of class.

My Project

My students are learning how to do proper legal research and put together legal briefs as well as mock congressional hearings. In the process, I have found myself doing a lot of work outside of the classroom. Unfortunately, my laptop computer has crashed lengthening my turnaround time and putting at risk competition deadlines. If I have an invincible laptop, I will be able to edit and grade the work of my 165 students and return them at a faster rate. This will enhance their research writing experience and equip me with the tools I need to be a high performing editor, until my students are better able to edit for themselves.
