Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

I have the privilege of having an award winning class in Clark County School District with having the highest scores in the district from an educational community called "Assess, Plan, and Teach". With this award, our class, which is Special Ed, was given the award of having the highest MAP Scores in our district.

To continue the excellence that's going on in my classroom, I will need the materials that I'm requesting.

The books that I'm requesting are to help my students know that even though they are Special Education students, that in no way means that they aren't students capable of excellence. By discussing our feelings and giving them voice, we strengthen not only the bond within ourselves, but within our class as a family.

I need the headphones for my class as I not only teach Special Education students, but I also have the pleasure of teaching English Language Learners and students who are auditory learners. As I'm trying to meet the needs of the "total" student, some of the strategies that I teach my students to help them take tests, such as the SBAC, have a lot to do with them being given the skills of listening to certain parts of the tests. My auditory learners have help in that they may be on First, Second, or Third Grade levels but are expected to take their Third, Fourth, and Fifth Grade assessments and have shown growth in that they have met the standards placed before them and use the auditory strategies that they have come to learn and help them to show the growth they've achieved.

The scissors and glue sticks will help my tactile learners as we are always connecting what we see with what we hear and learn. I thank you all in advance!
