For this project, students will complete an original piece of art that represents the legacy of colonization from the perspective of either women, Native Americans, Enslaved people, or indentured servants. Students will have the opportunity to express their artistic ability creating an original art piece using different mediums of their preference. These art pieces will be displayed throughout the school during a live art exhibit where parents, friends, and community members visit each project. The students will also have to write a description of their piece and explain their thinking. This project will enhance students’ ability to apply their skills in a real world situation. It will also hone their speaking skills as they answer in-depth questions regarding colonization.
