My students live in a high poverty/low income suburban neighborhood. Many come from single parent homes or are in the care of guardians. The students I work with are sixth graders, majority Latinos.
My students have the strive to learn and the self motivation to try to succeed in everything they do.
They love working on tasks and activities that build their confidence and make them feel empowering and brilliant! When they work collaboratively they foster a positive environment for cooperative learning. Help us by contributing to empower young minds!
My bilinguals students need a stronger set of reading skills in Spanish to help them become better readers in English! I hope that by providing them with text in Spanish they will read more often and learned to decode and read more fluently in their native language!
Having a bilingual library would cause my students to want my to read more often.
They are curious and interested in learning how to read in the language they speak so well in. I can not let them down! Help me bring books in Spanish into our classroom that promote a love for reading and that tie in culture into the classroom.
