My Students
Located in a high-risk/low-income school district, my elementary school draws students from all over the city. With more than 700 students, the school is bursting at the seams. Despite the large classroom sizes and tight quarters, the students here have many hopes and aspirations.
My students are creative elementary school children with a love for music and performing.
Whenever they can get a chance to stand on the stage, they are eager to show their best performance to anyone who is willing to listen and watch. My students' unique personalities and talents make our school shine, especially in the realm of performance. Some have a fantastic sense of humor that reduces everyone to fits of giggles, others possess singing voices that are angelic, and still others are gifted public speakers. The potential within each student is unlimited!
My Project
My students are putting on a spring musical in May and we are in the thick of creating props and sets for our show. The Luan plywood would be used for props and sets, the felt and yarn would be used for costume pieces, and the tempera paint would be used for backdrops. The show is called The Circus and involves a lot of funny, dynamic parts. We are hoping to create a set that reflects the vibe of the show.
My students are vibrant and spunky, and they deserve to have a set and costumes that match their personalities.
From lion tamers to acrobats to clowns, we have a lot of characters to cover. We already have the actors and actresses who are dedicating time and energy to learn their parts. All we need are the finishing touches!
