I teach kindergarten at an elementary school that has been rated exemplary for student achievement.
This year I am a new teacher at this school. I am working to establish a fairly new kindergarten room that has very little supplies available for literacy work stations. The classroom sight word materials requested will enhance learning and assist the children during small groups and literacy work stations.
The resources I am requesting would be used by the children on a daily basis to practice, learn and recall sight words. Children who have repetitive practice reading and writing sight words are able to increase fluency and comprehension.
Your help with this project will ensure that my students have appealing materials available in our kindergarten classroom that will enable them to practice sight words frequently and gain confidence while learning to read. The bright, colorful materials will meet the individual needs of each child and also motivate young children to learn new sight words. The materials are vital to instruction in the classroom as children work to achieve essential reading skills and would be used in subsequent years.
