This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Established in 1979, our school provides educational and support services for children with hearing or vision loss in the Mobile County Public School System. Some of the students have additional challenges that magnify the impact of the vision or hearing loss. Each of the students has special needs and requires extensive technology and assistance to succeed in a school setting. Students attend classes at one of three locations: the elementary campus, the middle school campus, and the high school campus. In addition, itinerant services are provided throughout county for students whose disability is not severe enough to require full time placement on one of the campuses. Services are also provided in neighboring counties. We currently have over 50 children in our elementary campus but serve over 350 throughout the school system.
My Project
Teaching a variety of special needs students means we do a lot of hands on learning in the library and computer lab.
These cleaning supplies will ensure my students don’t have the added struggle of being sick to their lives!
The handheld vacuum will be used to pick up small spills in the library and computer lab. The extra attachments will be used to clean the keyboards little fingers touch daily.
The Clorox Wipes will be used to sanitize the keyboard, books, tables, and other materials the students touch often.
The Kleenex’s will be placed throughout the classroom for easy access when a student needs to blow their nose.
For my students to continue to make progress, they need to be at school. These materials will help achieve this goal! Who wants to be sick and laying in bed, when they could be getting new library books and learning in the computer lab!
