This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Sometimes it's hard to find a place to sit and enjoy a story but a listening center is the place that can change all of that.

I teach second grade to a group of fantastic students.

My students are energetic and eager to learn. Daily practice with reading has improved their fluency and comprehension. For some students, English is not spoken at home and school is their only opportunity to hear English.

My Project

A listening center will help students hear the English language through wonderful stories as well as hear how reading with accuracy, pace and expression should sound. Another way for students to improve their reading is with a video recorder. Students will be able to record stories they have written and then share them in the listening center for other students to hear. Students who are stronger in reading will be wonderful models for struggling students by helping them develop their reading skills.
