This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As a first-grade teacher, I strive to create a classroom environment where every student feels supported and ready to learn. Several of my students have sensory processing needs, which can make it difficult for them to stay focused or calm during the school day. Sensory toys are an essential part of our classroom because they help students regulate their emotions and attention, allowing them to fully engage with their learning. Items like fidget tools, textured toys, and calming manipulatives provide much-needed sensory input in a safe and non-disruptive way.

In addition to sensory toys, a wireless mouse will help make our classroom technology more accessible for all students.

Many young learners struggle with the fine motor coordination needed to use a trackpad effectively. A wireless mouse offers a simpler and more intuitive way for students to interact with learning programs and complete assignments on classroom computers or tablets. This small tool can make a big difference in promoting independence and confidence with technology.

Ziplock and mesh bags may seem like simple supplies, but they play a crucial role in keeping our classroom organized and functional. Sensory toys and learning materials need to be stored in a way that’s easy for students to access and return independently. Ziplock bags help keep smaller items clean and contained, while mesh bags allow students to see what’s inside without needing to open them. This supports both independence and responsibility in our young learners. Your support will help me provide the tools and structure my students need to thrive every day.
