This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you know that children who play with puzzles between ages 2 and 4 later develop better spatial skills? According to a study done by the University of Chicago, puzzle play not only supports spatial skills but also the development of cognition implicated in the success of STEM disciplines.

My preschoolers are a wonderful group of 26 children; they are three and four years old and eager to learn.

They have limited educational resources at home because they come from low-income households, but they are very enthusiastic learners and happy children! My goal is to provide them with a positive environment at school where they can develop their natural curiosity and desire to learn about the world.

My Project

I'm requesting a set of preschool puzzles to foster my students' cognitive development. When children complete a puzzle they are setting a single goal to achieve. In order to achieve this goal, my students will have to think and develop strategies. This process involves problem solving, reasoning skills, and developing solutions, which can later be transferred into their adult life. In addition, puzzle play will also support learning in many other subjects taught in the classroom. Because puzzles come in a wide range of themes and topics such as colors, shapes, seasons, transportation, alphabet, numbers, etc., my preschoolers will develop a deeper understanding of these themes and their visual spatial abilities will increase as well.

Please support this project and help my preschool students develop their cognitive skills and many other areas of their development such as fine motor abilities, eye-hand coordination, social and self-esteem skills, etc.

It is only through your kindness and generosity that my preschool students will have the opportunity to play with a wonderful set of puzzles.
