Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students not only come from a low-income area, they are also working to learn the English Language. Despite all the hardships they have outside of school, they come to school ready to learn.
I teach at a Title I school where 88% of our students receive free or reduced breakfast and lunch.
We provide Blessings in a Backpack, where they take a bag of food home on the weekends. Despite so many hardships, my students walk into my classroom with a smile on their face and are so eager to learn. They deserve the materials that will help to push them to their full potential.
My Project
I am working to make my station time in class more meaningful. Station time is when the students work to build skills on their own while I work with a small group.
Incorporating power pens will be a fun way to build math and reading skills with instant reinforcement, for a job well done!
Kids are able to touch the pen to an answer with the pen and the pen will tell them if it’s right or wrong.
The math cards will support my students with multiplication, division, telling time, fractions, and more! While the reading cards help reinforce skills like using context clues, making inferences, and more.
