Help me give my students the card stock, print cartridges, laminating film, velcro and organizational boxes to provide individual task boxes to improve math and literacy skills.
I teach a classroom for preschool students with Autism that range in age from 2 1/2 to 5 within a public school Early Childhood Center. My students are learning to function within a classroom setting with other children. They are learning the classroom structure with the help of visual supports. Cognitive skills are learned through structured manipulative activities.
These students often have basic early math and literacy skills to build on but need specific and structured materials to help them to progress.
My Project
My students learn best with visually structured activities that they are able to complete without the distractions of a large group and the auditory input that is often difficult for them. Task boxes containing individual activities to improve math and literacy concepts will allow the students to progress at their own rate. In addition, progress can be monitored and used for documentation of student progress.
My students will improve in math and literacy skills using individual tasks designed to scaffold their current knowledge to new learning.
The students are more focused and less disruptive when provided structured activities to complete independently.
