Most of my students come from high poverty backgrounds. They get free breakfast in the morning and free lunch.
I have 30 students this year that absolutely love to learn, need a lot of attention and nurturing, and benefit from hands-on materials that will keep them engaged and focused.
They come to school with different experiences and a big range of academic abilities. Each child brings something special to the classroom. All of my students just want to be loved and treated with respect.
My Project
My students need hands-on materials to make learning fun! First graders are very active and need a variety of literacy activities.
Sorting vowel sounds, swatting sight words, and building words are just a few activities my first graders will be doing in the literacy stations.
My students will not only be learning to read but will also learn how to get along, share materials and work as a team.
I like watching my first graders engaged in learning while having fun! These literacy activities offer my students choices and differentiation which is highly important in helping them become responsible for their learning.
