Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are at a Title 1 school and most of them do not have the means at home to have technology.

Most of my students are on free and reduced lunch and come from low income families.

I have a lot of children that are bilingual and need to strengthen their vocabulary. My students are very eager to learn but I do not have much parent involvement. This opportunity would give my students a great love of reading!

My Project

With Leap Pads, my students will get to experience technology that is fun but also will give them a wide range of stories and vocabulary. I plan to have each child have a Leap Pad so that whenever they are finished with their work they can work quietly on their story. I plan to incorporate the Leap Pads into my daily centers. The Leap Pads will help my students with vocabulary development, fluency and their ability to read.

Some of my students will never get to use a Leap Pad in their homes.

This will be their chance to use one and develop a love for reading. The stories are very inviting and it will encourage them to want to read more on their own. Plus they can learn words and skills without having to be taught by a teacher. This way my more shy students can hear a word over and over without feeling embarrassed. Please this will be such a wonderful opportunity for these kids to have at their fingertips.
