Learning with LCD

My students need one 32" LCD television.

FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Ernst's classroom raised $537

This project is fully funded

Fantastic 4th graders in need of technology integration in the classroom! I am the proud teacher of 21 academically and culturally diverse 4th graders in a city charter school. I lead my students through a very content-rich, theme-based curriculum. We learn about satire and classic literature through Gulliver's Travels. We explore mysteries and the role of the Judicial system with a focus on forensic science. We get first-hand experience on the circulatory system by dissecting cow hearts. And we dive right into life in the middle ages by running our own Medieval Faire, complete with jousting and a knighting ceremony!

~singing songs to learn math skills ~taking a kinesthetic approach to learning ~learning through interactive PowerPoint presentations ~experiencing the past via interactive websites ~researching current events ~viewing primary sources ~exploring real-world connections to classroom lessons ~having as much fun in school as possible! ...THESE ARE A FEW OF MY STUDENTS' FAVORITE THINGS!

My wonderful students have a diverse array of learning styles. Many of them are visual learners and thrive when they can see examples of the task at hand. Many others are also auditory and love learning songs to help them remember and connect with skills. All of them are highly interested in the world around them and researching and seeing authentic and accurate videos and information on a number of topics. I would like an LCD television in my classroom that can be connected to my desktop computer. I would like to be able to easily display interactive PowerPoint presentations that introduce and/or delve deeply into a topic, and also to review skills for a test (for example, Statistic Jeopardy!) I would also like to display daily objectives and expectations in an engaging and modern format. Instead of wasting transparencies (and overheating the classroom with an overhead projector)! I would like to display self-created graphic organizers and model how they should be completed. I would like to make efficient use of our student laptop time by being able to model specifically how to use various computer programs and websites.

The list of learning opportunities is endless! With your help, I could greatly improve the learning of my fantastic fourth graders. I assure you they are some of the most wonderful kids you could meet, and in addition to myself, would be immensely thankful for your generosity. Many thanks in advance for your consideration!
