My Project

I have 18 students in my class who are 4 and 5 years old. My school is located in a high poverty area, and all students at my school receive free breakfast and lunch. Even though my students do not come from the best home life, they come in each and every day very eager to learn. My students love learning though hands on and engaging activities. I rarely do worksheets in my classroom. I would rather give my students opportunities to learn through a hands on activity.

I believe my students learn better when they engaged and are able to manipulate words, letters, or math problems.

My students would love to have the CVC words hands on teaching kit so that they are able to manipulate letters to make words. I can see my students with their CVC bags making words while I put picture cards on the board. My students would also be able to work with a partner giving each other words while the other builds them. The possibilities are endless with the CVC bags. My students would also love to have the light table math trays. My students already love the light table, so if they are able to practice concepts we are learning in math while "playing" at the light table I believe they will retain the information better than if they were just working on a worksheet. I believe that there are so many things I would be able to do for my students with the materials I have asked for.
