I teach 4th grade at an elementary school in South Florida. My students are an amazing group of kids. They come from diverse backgrounds with various learning needs and challenges. My class is full of questions, energy, enthusiasm and determination! We are working hard to build a strong classroom culture. I am looking forward to building a classroom library that will help foster a love of reading within each of them. I strive to keep my students engaged and motivated.
These flexible seating options will allow my students to find comfortable positions throughout the classroom. I want to give my students a choice of what to sit on and where. This encourages them to find their best spot so they are comfortable and able to focus. When the students are comfortable, they are more engaged. Flexible seating also allows them to move. This keeps them more focused and alert. The students also feel more empowered to make their own decisions. I also want them to see the classroom as "ours" and know it is all about them. The kids love having their own choice of comfort and to be able to change it when/as needed.
