Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Learning another language helps us understand, connect, and empathize with people from all cultures, especially when there is food involved. That's why I want to give my Portuguese students a taste of Brazil.

It is is also a great reason to learn about environment issues and that is why I’d love if my students could try Guaraná, a soft drink made from a special berry native to the Amazon basin and especially common in Brazil.

My students learned about this in our class, but just in theory because they have never had the chance to try it. With this project, I think we can get deeper into the Amazon culture and discuss how possible it is to sustainable get resources from the rain forest.

I have cooked for them a few times, and I'd love to bring guaraná and some Brazilian treats to enhance their experience with the culture.

In addition, this project also requests some other types of snacks and occasional sweet treats to help keeping students focused on school.
