My Students

Shortly after beginning my teaching career in a Title I school I came to realize what a privilege it is to get to work with such a variety of students each and every year. Their diverse backgrounds and experiences meld to create richly unique bodies of knowledge that instruct students and teachers alike.

The majority of my students hail from low-socioeconomic status households, but they never let their status become a limitation for what they can achieve.

In fact, most of my students view their difficult circumstances as motivation to succeed in their educational pursuits so that they can create lives for themselves that are even better than the lives that they have always known.

My Project

Within any classroom around the world you will find a mix of students who need instruction presented in specific ways in order to learn effectively. Some need lessons that include visual instruction. Others benefit from auditory activities. Therefore, a teacher who cares about his or her students incorporates a variety of instructional techniques in order to meet the needs of ALL of his or her students.

BrainPOP includes curriculum connected videos, graphic organizers, vocabulary activities, games, and more in all subject areas.

Incorporating BrainPOP content into my lessons will enable me to better meet the diverse learning needs of each of my students. This is especially important this school year as some of my students will attend school in person, while others will be online learners due to the pandemic. It is more crucial than ever to provide my students with the educational supports that they need in order to succeed, despite the difficult circumstances in which we are all currently live.

With an annual subscription to BrainPOP, I will be able to bring the 5th grade curriculum to life for all of my students! Rather than reading a science textbook about changes to earth's surface, I'll be able to show a video depicting wild volcanic eruptions and powerful earthquakes. Instead of simply explaining the complicated circumstances that lead to World War I, my students and I can work together to construct a virtual graphic organizer using information from primary sources. After learning about the differences between literary similes and metaphors, my students will be able to sort characteristics within a virtual Venn Diagram. The impactful and engaging learning opportunities that will be opened up to my students with a BrainPOP subscription are endless!
