My students need a 40 gallon tank to help provide our class bearded dragon, Savage, a new home since he is outgrowing his current home. We also need extra accessories to give him a happy habitat!

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We are a wonderful public Montessori school in Dallas. Our students are not neighborhood students and travel from all over Dallas to attend Harry Stone. Our school has a great staff and awesome parents. We are a Title I school.
My students love our class pet, Little Savage, the bearded dragon.
They research him, watch him in his habitat, and have welcomed him into our classroom.
We are a mixed age classroom with 1st, 2nd, and 3rd graders. These students are responsible helpers to myself and others in our school.
My Project
As a Montessori school, we learn about zoology. What an excellent way to learn by bringing in the real thing!
We get to learn first hand about a bearded dragon's habitat by bringing in a terrarium.
The students get to learn why certain items are in the habitat, why Little Savage needs them. They get to see him eat and see his daily behaviors.
We get to talk about why there is driftwood in the habitat and why a background is needed. We also talk about the lighting and why it is needed. The students are also able to see him eat live crickets and fresh salad.
