Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
In my school, I have many students who come from different demographics and cultures and bring a different dynamic to my classroom. More than 50% of the student population is learning English as a second language. Spanish and Haitian Creole are many of their dominant languages. My goal for this year is to fully engage my students in the exciting world of science, with the Interactive notebook approach and modeling. My students come from all walks of life, so with the various intellectual, socioeconomic, and cultural environments, I am here to bridge the gap and bring the commonality of science to the table. With the help of differentiated instruction, I want my students to be well prepared.
Instead of the usual notes, I want students to consult their notebooks when they have questions, and apply the information they received.
The notebooks will be filled with many taped/glued visuals, that they will use to help overcome the language barrier that many of them face. In addition to the interactive notebooks, they will have the opportunity to piece together the puzzles of science.
