My Students
My fourth grade classroom is located in Newton, MA, just outside of the heart of Boston. We are part of the Newton Public Schools, a district that supports the full inclusion teaching model for our special education students. My school benefits from Title 1 funds and also has a large ELL population representing children from many different cultures, backgrounds and socio-economic situations. Almost half of the students in our classroom speak another language at home.
Our school's core values emphasize respecting human differences, striving for academic excellence, and developing life-long learning.
I would like my classroom to continue fostering an environment in which students internalize our school's values.
My Project
I want my classroom to be a student centered learning environment where students can reach their greatest ability without restrictions. Cantilever chair seating options will make a difference in how my students focus on their work while being comfortable at their desks.
Cantilever chairs are a great alternative for students who many need a little movement to keep themselves focused while working.
I believe that some students need to move in order to do their best work. Cantilever chairs will give students different seating options that allow students to remain active while learning. My students love to learn and need to have some flexibility to be active learners.
More than half of students from low‑income households
