Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students come from many different backgrounds. I work in a low income school but these kids come to school excited to learn every day. I want to give my students every possible chance I can to help them succeed. My students overcome many challenges to make it to school. Many of them have parents that have to work multiple jobs or in the fields tending to the crops. They still give 100% everyday and are excited to learn and share their new learning with their parents. It is amazing to see just how much they learn and grow everyday.
While I work with first grade students, I am trying to help build the foundation they need to develop a life long love of learning.
My students face each challenge with a smile and a "can do" attitude. Together we will learn and grow every day.
My Project
My students need materials for centers and to help develop life skills. We need board games to help teach them how to take turns and how to problem solve. These games will be used in centers as well as free choice friday.
We need clipboards so that we can take our learning outside or to the floor.
The clipboards will allow us to move around and work in many different areas. We need Legos and Lincoln Logs to work on our stem projects. Then we will create a plan and then build it with the Legos and Lincoln Logs.
We need small treats to help motivate positive behavior and reward hard work. The treats will also be used to reward students for their classroom presentations.
We need a color printer and ink to print out stories and to print colored books and center materials for hands-on learning.
