Help me give my students a place where everyone feels at home since learning a new language can be challenging and scary.
Help me make this classroom feel fun and inviting.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach English as a Second language. Many of my kids struggle with basic sentence structure, spelling, and learning nuances of English. They are adorable and fun students, but they crave creative and interactive ways to learn. They get easily discouraged, and I want to use incentive games and tools to help motivate. My hope is to create an adventure atmosphere where they feel welcome!
My Project
My ESL classroom is very bare with concrete floors, brick walls, and student desks. This can feel isolating, intimidating and unwelcoming. My project centers around providing a camping adventure theme. These supplies will provide space for a unique reading nook with a tent, rug, and soft seating. My goal is for new students to feel at ease and relaxed when they come to take a seat. Often immigrants and newcomers are brought into an unfamiliar place. These items will create a center of unity. My plan is to have a mock campfire where everyone feels welcome. This circle time will be the setting to gathers students into the fun adventure of learning. Thank you for investing in some amazing students!
