My Students

Time for Study Hall! Does that sound exciting? Not at all! I teach two exploratory classes but do not have any funds to purchase the needed materials to make it more than just another study hall.

Everyday in Exploratory I teach sixty 7th grade girls and boys in rural Alabama.

My students love any activity that is hands on! They are full of energy and enjoy working together! Plus, my students are always up for a challenge! This is why I think they would love to learn ASL.

My Project

We need this classroom kit to learn a new language. The Signing Time kit will provide all we need to begin learning American Sign Language. It includes DVDs and CDs that we can watch and listen to as well as fun games and activities that are broken down into 16 units of lesson material. It also has flashcards to help us review each of the signs.

This Signing Time kit will help me teach students how to communicate using ASL.

Students will have the knowledge of how to interact with people they may otherwise not been able to. All of the materials included will continue to be used with future classes providing the opportunity for hundreds of students to learn a new language. This will truly make our Exploratory class engaging and enriching!
