My Students
Welcome to my classroom! I am starting my second year as a special education teacher to students with mild to moderate autism. My students range from 1st grade to 3rd grade. My students are learning math, language arts, science, art, social studies and social skills. My students have a wide range of skills and abilities, and I want to give them a classroom that helps them engage in learning.
My goal is to help my students to become independent members of society, and giving them the tools that they need to be successful.
My students love hands-on activities, and I love being able to promote their learning through things that interest them.
My Project
My students are on the autism spectrum and needs direct instruction and practice when it comes to expressing and identifying emotions. They need to practice what different emotions look like and what different emotions mean in different situations.
My students will benefit from a weighted blanket and headphones to help them re-regulate their emotions when they become over stimulated.
When my students get de-regulated they need a calm space to calm their bodies. The fidgets can help them to calm down or to stay calm when they began to become over stimulated.
These items will help my students learn about emotions and help them to regulate their own emotions.
