Learning to Read Without Speaking? CRAZY

My students need headphones that work and have a mic so that they can take advantage of all of the functions available to them with their reading program and web search

My Students

Imagine learning to read and only being able to hear. That is what it is like for our students who are using the computer to practice reading skills. Now imagine adding the speaking component to improve ones reading ability. Having a headphone with mic allows for both.

Our students come from a variety of social and economic backgrounds in one of the most diverse communities in the country.

Their families are working class who want the most for their kids but often do not have the financial resources available to provide additional tools to assist the students at school.

My Project

As our school implements Common Core and we start using Google Apps For Education (GAFE), our students are in need of having headphones with mics on them in order to practice reading and hearing their own voices as well as using the speak to text features that are found in Google Chrome. Many of our Special Needs students struggle with keyboarding and having the mic available will give them greater access to being able to express their knowledge.

Your donation will have a huge impact on our school community by providing additional resources that students can use to not enhance their learning but improve it.

Having a better headphone will allow them to not only hear, but practice speaking as well and this will only help to improve their language ability.
