FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Hauser's classroom raised $525
This project is fully funded
I teach 1st grade in an inner city, high-need school. My students come from low-income homes with very little resources. Our school does not have the funding to provide essential tools to enhance and facilitate successful learning.
First grade is an essential time in every child's education. This is the year when reading becomes real to the students and essential skills are formed. Phonics, vocabulary, and sentence writing skills are a large part of our reading curriculum. Our lessons are very structured and can easily become mundane. When my students grow increasingly bored, our lack of resources makes it very difficult for me to provide them with exciting new approaches to learning.
The excitement that many of my students show about learning to read is easily squashed by a lack of supplies in our classroom. We do not have many books in our classroom library, and the one books we do have are old and damaged. The resources that come with our reading program are also old and used. My students would benefit enormously from brand new, colorful, comprehensive, fun, and exciting reading games. The 16 different games I am requesting vary from simple identification of sight words to giving students the tools to form complete and complex sentences.
Your donation will help my students become successful, fluent, and excited readers. I know they would love the opportunity to mix fun and reading through these educational, skill building games. My students exist in a world where new resources and materials are few and far between; your donation will bring new light and excitement to our daily routine!
