Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach at a small elementary school just outside of Houston. My school is a Title I, low income school. Many of the students qualify for the free lunch program. 67% of the students in my school are economically disadvantaged. Some students lost their homes due to Hurricane Harvey and had to relocate.
Each day I get to make a difference in a student's life.
As a kindergarten teacher, I am building the foundation that will help the students to be successful in the rest of their school career. Sometimes I am the first smile that they see in the morning and the last hug they will receive in the evening.
My Project
My students need the Fishing for Sight Words complete set, Build-A-Word Houses, Word Family Flip Books, and Write and Wipe Alphabet Practice Cards.Students will be using the Fishing for Sight Words Complete Set, Write and Wipe Alphabet Practice Cards, Word Family Flip Books, and Build-A-Word Houses daily during literacy workstations and small group instruction.
These letter and word activities will help my students learn to read through fun and games.
The Write and Wipe Alphabet Practice Cards and the Build-A-Word Houses will help my struggling students learn their letters and simple CVC words. The Fishing for Sight Words Complete Set and the Word Family Flip Books will help my higher students develop a stronger vocabulary. My students would really enjoy these activities and would be very thankful for your help!
