This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My classroom library is a place full of wonder and magic! It is a place my students really enjoy. Every student book that is placed in my library is treated with love and care, and my students are thankful for the opportunities to read each day. I want to continue this magic and classroom tradition while also increasing the accessibility my students have to print rich texts. I want them to be able to choose books, which will help them continue to enjoy independent reading time.

With these new books, my students will be able to access literacy and read independently at a level that is appropriate for them.

Teaching in a high English Learner population means that while I teach 3rd grade, the reading abilities of my students will vary. I want ALL my students to be able to access texts right for them and build a love or reading.

The best way to increase reading ability is to read more, and these books will continue to help my students grow stronger in reading. My students already have shown an astonishing interest in independent reading this school year, and this project will only help enrich their experiences with the printed word.
