Learning to Read: Shhhh... I Have a Secret

My Students

I have a class of 23 diverse kindergarteners in our school. The background of these students is from affluent to the poverty level. I teach the kindergarten inclusion classroom at our school. We meet our students' needs by differentiating our instruction.

Our school is large with over 900 students Pre-K through fifth grade.

Our curriculum focuses on student inquiry-based learning with a global perspective. For this age, hands-on learning is essential. We just don't always have the material needed to enhance our students learning.

My Project

I would love to use this program with my kindergarteners. Kindergarteners are eager to learn and "Secret Stories" captures their attention and helps them grasp letter/sound connections. "Secret Stories" is a multisensory phonics approach rooted in the science of reading

This kit would provide a way for my students to connect a logical explanation for why letters and sounds make the stound they do so my kiddos can become fluent readers and writers.

The kit provides mini-stories, phonics teacher book, and phonics songs, along with posters to help decode words to become successful. My students will learn new "stories" to help them decode words.
