This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are amazing. They come to school prepared to learn and try their best to achieve our high expectations every day. Our school is located in a low-income area with most students receiving free or reduced-price lunch.

Engagement is key for my students and I want them to be engaged in their learning so they stay in school and succeed!

I want my students to learn and be successful and have fun at the same time.

I focus on the potential and growth of the children in my room. That growth is measured in student joy and love for learning, their engagement in classroom activities, and their desire to share their learning at home!

My Project

My students are curious with their new reading skills and need the opportunity to read and explore through texts that connect them to our world. The books I have chosen will help them with social skills needed to promote kindness.

My classroom is in need of books that will help them to gain visuals, and expand their understanding of how their actions reflect on those around them.

I encourage my first graders to be independent and accept responsibility for their actions so they can truly be proud of the things they accomplish and their behavior. Having these books in circulation will aid and add to the fun of learning to read while exposing them to social responsibility. These literacy books are going to make such a difference in my classroom. I am super excited about the conversations we will have about behaviors, feelings, and their effect on our attitudes. First graders love reading books so now is the time for them to learn through reading. Remember they may be children now but, they are our future!
