My Students

I am the proud teacher of 28, school-loving, kindergarten students. Each morning they arrive eager to start their day and are abuzz with the new things that we are going to learn. There is a love of learning from the moment they arrive!

My school is located in a multicultural area of Philadelphia.

A percentage of students are learning to speak English for the first time. It is a low-income area of the city and students often come to school with few to no resources provided by the school district. However, my students never see that as a barrier to their learning and are always motivated to do their best.

My Project

Kindergarten students love learning how to read, but it requires a lot of practice with tools to make it happen. This paper, puncher, lamination sheets, binding discs, and printer ink will help me make reading journals for my students.

Reading journals help students practice the skills they are learning in reading.

They also help students to see their progress over time and take pride in how much they learn over the course of the school year.

Kindergarten students need a lot of practice with writing letters, sorting pictures by sounds, and building words. These journals will help them to accomplish those tasks.
