This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I work in a low income school. All of my students receive free breakfast and free lunch. All of my students are very eager to learn. I have a variety of reading materials for my students to read. Most are not in the best condition. My students love Dr. Seuss books. I would love to provide my class with a library of Dr. Seuss books. I had the book Green eggs and ham in my class last year. By the end of the year the book was missing its cover. The kids loved it. They would beg to read this book to the older classrooms in the school.
My Project
March is reading month. My students are attempting to move 5 to 8 levels in reading to be considered at grade level. I have noticed that the rhyming and use of sight words in Dr. Seuss books excite my students. They feel great success when they can master one of these books. They find these books fun and silly! I am looking foreword to reviewing sight words found in these books. I also plan to make large chart boards with rhyming words. Once we master green eggs and ham we will have a fun breakfast! Dr. Seuss books will add an exciting addition to my ELA program.
