it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The students in my kindergarten classroom are from a low socioeconomic area in a rural town in southwestern Arizona. We are located close to the border of Mexico. Some students have special needs. I also have English language learners and children of military families. They are curious about everything around them. But many of them lack educational support away from the classroom.
My kindergarten students are eager to be 21st-century students learning with a curriculum that promotes and supports reading, science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics.
My favorite quote is a Chinese proverb: "Do not confine our children to your own learning, for they were born in another time."
My Project
My kindergarten students need sturdy binders to organize their literacy and language lessons daily. Having a 2 inch binder will allow them to have much needed literacy tools in one area that can be used and transported to and from school. The binders will be used to practiced language concepts and skills at home. a new document camera will allow literacy lessons to be projected at school for all to see as well as for those who may need to work at home if a remote situation arises. Our old document camera is failing due to overuse during last years remote learning.
Our school is an AVID school requiring our students to have the necessary materials to stay organized and ready to learn rigorously through a variety of methods.
Being able to support my students learning needs by supplying them with the materials and tools needed for the best education possible is extremely important on their first year of school. I am in need of updated technology tools such as a document camera which can help me delivery and display my literacy lessons as well as all other lessons my kindergarten students may require. Binders are expensive and often must be replaced during the school year but some families are unable to afford them. Help is appreciated to ensure quality instruction in my AVID kindergarten.
