My Students

My enthusiasm for books on CD for my students to use during listen to reading is sometimes met with comments such as "That's not really reading, is it?" or "That's cheating, it's not reading." However, books on CD gives students a renewed love for reading and comprehending books!

My second grade students are a lively bunch!

We are a very small, Title One school. Our community is in rural Illinois in a tiny community which has been hard hit with job losses. My students are a fantastic group of students, each unique in their own way and providing their teacher with lots of challenges!

My Project

These beautifully illustrated, well-loved stories from popular author Don Freeman will be stories that students can listen to again and again! There are 4 paperback copies of the book, plus a CD that reads the story word for word. My struggling readers are sometimes ashamed that they are not up to par with their peers. Listening to books on CD will assist them in their reading skills! It will also help students build fluency and confidence as they read and follow along with their own personal copy of the book being read.

Donations to this project will make a difference in the life of a child.

It will help give a struggling reader new confidence and enthusiasm for reading. Your donation will purchase supplies that will be in my classroom and affect children for many years to come. Thank you so much for considering this proposal.
