Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are special to me because they are the cohort who began their academic education limited to the computer screen in less than ideal learning environments. Their social-emotional needs; our need as a learning institution to ensure the surfaces they touch are clean so they can stay healthy and not miss school are equally important to their academic success.

Students coming from multiple classrooms require constant wiping down tables with disinfecting wipes after every 30-minute session in addition to using hand sanitizer.

I am supporting 52 students ranging from 3rd-5th grade with varied levels of literacy abilities and so their attendance is crucial. If my students become ill, then they miss class and I cannot support the empty seat, so with these materials, I can ensure I do my part to ensure their health within the scope of my influence.

I am also wishing for the anti-racist classroom library in order to have in my classroom so that students can "see" themselves in books. This classroom library depicts children from diverse backgrounds and present anti-racist topics in age-appropritate language and in a non-threaning way.
